Sydney Kurtz, LPC

Hi, I’m Sydney

Psychotherapist at Head First Health.

“It's not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters.”

Hi! I’m Sydney, a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and therapist at Head First Health. I am passionate about working with clients to uncover the change they are seeking to achieve to reach their optimal selves. I believe that it’s so important to have someone by your side in this journey.

I specialize in treating eating disorders, anxiety, depression, career exploration and life transitions by using CBT, Strengths-based, Adlerian, and Existential modalities.

I utilize a holistic approach that incorporates the mind, body and soul. All three of these work in tandem, and we will explore all parts of yourself, in order to develop a greater understanding & feel more at peace. What feels out of balance? Where are there problems arising? Whether it’s lack of connection, meaningful work, purpose, discovering or uncovering your true self, incorporating more passions, nutrition, or connection with your body and movement. We will work to help you achieve balance to ensure all parts of your life are being nurtured.

If you’re struggling with feelings of self-doubt, anxiety, depression, feeling lost with your direction in life/career, or struggling with disordered eating, you have come to the right place. During our sessions, we will be doing values based work, along with CBT to explore if you are living a life in alignment with your core values. I challenge clients on their thoughts and actions to encourage them to be the best versions of themselves. I use approaches that emphasize growth and resilience. I believe strongly in embracing discomfort. I believe that in discomfort, there is growth; and with growth, comes change.

Topics that we often explore in session are: your relationship with food, connectedness with your body, being in tune with bodily cues, how you talk to yourself, cyclical dieting, self-esteem, family history and ways of coping. I take a holistic approach to fully understand the root of the eating disorder.

I also support career driven women who are questioning their place in their careers. I went through the process of making a career transition myself, having formerly worked in Corporate America before transitioning to therapy. I help clients go through this exploration and identify what career feels aligned with their values, goals, vision & dreams.

I am dedicated to helping you live with more purpose and intention; this means cultivating a life with limitless potential. It is not always obvious what this looks like and it takes thoughtful work on the day-to-day to create a life of meaning. I will help you to define what this journey looks like for YOU. I believe everyone possesses a unique set of strengths that make us all distinct individuals. Through therapy, we will uncover these and find what is holding you back from happiness, and discuss solutions that can help you achieve your goals. Most importantly, I want to help you live a life of fulfillment, meaning, and authenticity; we will use an individualized approach to identify what that looks like for you specifically. The overarching goal will be achieving the change you want to see in your own life.

My style: Empathetic, Goal-focused, Strengths-based and straight-forward.

My Framework:  CBT, Strengths-based, Adlerian, and Existential
