EMDR Couples Therapist Chicago

Hi, I’m Ashley

PSYCHOTHERAPIST AT HEAD FIRST HEALTH

Healing from trauma can feel overwhelming, especially when painful experiences continue to affect your relationships, your sense of self, and your ability to fully engage in life. You may feel stuck in patterns you can't explain, disconnected from yourself, emotionally exhausted, or unsure how to move forward. The good news is that healing is possible, and you don't have to navigate it alone.

I specialize in working with adults experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, difficult family dynamics, relationship challenges, and struggles with self-worth & identity. I also have experience helping couples strengthen communication, rebuild connection, navigate conflict, and create healthier, more fulfilling relationships.

As an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapist, I help clients process painful experiences that continue to impact their daily lives. I also incorporate Internal Family Systems (IFS), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), psychodynamic therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and the Gottman Method to create an individualized treatment approach that meets your unique needs.

I take a holistic, trauma-informed approach that recognizes the powerful connection between the mind, body, emotions, relationships, and personal values. Together, we'll explore the experiences that have shaped your story, identify patterns that may no longer be serving you, and reconnect with the strengths that have always existed within you.

My therapeutic style is warm, direct, compassionate, and empowering. I strive to create a space where you feel genuinely supported while also being thoughtfully challenged to grow. I believe meaningful change happens when we develop a deeper understanding of ourselves, learn to approach our experiences with curiosity rather than judgment, and begin living in greater alignment with our values.

If you're struggling with the effects of trauma, anxiety, relationship difficulties, unresolved family conflict, low self-esteem, or feeling disconnected from yourself or your partner, you've come to the right place. Together, we'll work toward helping you heal, strengthen your relationships, and build a life that feels more authentic, intentional, and meaningful.

Healing begins when you approach yourself with compassion, curiosity, and the courage to create meaningful change.

Healing begins when you approach yourself with compassion, curiosity, and the courage to create meaningful change.

Topics that we often explore in session are:

Trauma and how it continues to impact your daily life, relationship patterns, family dynamics, anxiety, self-esteem, identity, emotional regulation, communication, attachment, boundaries, grief, and life transitions. Together, we'll explore how your experiences have shaped the way you view yourself, relate to others, and move through the world.

As an EMDR therapist, I help clients process and heal from painful experiences that may still be influencing their thoughts, emotions, relationships, and sense of self. We will work to identify the patterns that no longer serve you, understand the protective roles they've played, and develop new ways of responding that create greater freedom and flexibility in your life.

I also enjoy working with couples who want to strengthen their relationship, improve communication, rebuild trust, navigate conflict, and develop a deeper understanding of one another. Healthy relationships don't happen by accident. They are built through intentionality, vulnerability, and the willingness to grow both individually and together. Whether you're feeling disconnected, stuck in repetitive patterns, or struggling to communicate effectively, we will work together to create a stronger foundation.
